Sailing the Worldly Winds: One Day Introduction to Buddhism and Meditation

Date and time: Saturday 15th June, 10am to 4.30pm

Venue: Peace House, Paradise Street, Oxford OX1 1LD

Cost: suggested donation of £20, or £10 low income. Feel free to give more or less.

This day will be suitable to those completely new to meditation and Buddhism, or those who have done a drop-in class or introductory course.

The "worldly winds" are gain and loss, praise and blame, fame and disgrace, pleasure and pain. The Buddha taught them as a way of describing the ups and downs of our days and lives. These ever-changing worldly winds can sometimes throw us into anxiety, despondency, irritation, or into intoxication and pride. This day retreat will take the Buddha's teaching of the worldly winds as a starting point for cultivating a wiser attitude to the see-sawing conditions of life. This makes us more free and more able to respond creatively and with compassion.

The day will be led by Vajragupta, whose book Sailing the Worldly Winds is published by Windhorse Publications.
